The Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji Race Committee is going to announce the registration schedule for the UTMF2021 as follows.

(1) Event schedule  Three days from Friday, April 23 to Sunday, April 25, 2021

(2) Race category  The Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji (one category)
– Total distance: 164 km
– Cumulative altitude gain: +7,563 m/-7,535 m
– Number of racers: 2,400 racers
(including elite racers, general racers, and donation-based racers)
* The number of racers accepted for the UTMF2021 general category will be announced after the number of racers with the priority entry rights is determined.
– Start time: First wave at 14:30, Friday, April 23, 2021
      Second wave at 14:45, Friday, April 23, 2021
      Third wave at 15:00, Friday, April 23, 2021
      Fourth wave at 15:15, Friday, April 23, 2021
      Fifth wave at 15:30, Friday, April 23, 2021
– Final cutoff time: 13:30, Sunday, April 25, 2021 (46-hour time limit)
– Start venue: Kodomo-no-kuni (Fuji city, Shizuoka)
– Finish venue: Fujikyu Highland (Kawaguchiko town/Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi)

(3) Racer qualifications
* The entry is open only to racers living in Japan except for invited racers.
– Any male or female 18 years of age or older as of race day who can complete the race within the time limit and without getting lost.
– Racers must have successfully completed races that are registered with the ITRA (International Trail Running Association) and have earned points described below. The races must have been completed within the last four years (from November 16, 2016) up until the day before the start date of the general registration (November 15, 2020).
 However, at least one of these races must have been completed within two years (from November 16, 2018) up until the day before the registration start date (November 15, 2020).
– 10 points or more from up to three races
– Registered racers of the UTMF2020 (racers who had the right to run in the UTMF2020 in all categories including the donation-based racers and general racers) will receive priority entry rights for the UTMF2021 or UTMF2022. Racers who live outside of Japan will receive the priority entry rights for the UTMF2022 only. The priority entry rights will be given even when racers do not satisfy the ITRA point requirements which are part of the racer qualifications. Still, racers must be sufficiently trained to participate in the race.

(4) Registration period
– Priority registration (Registered racers of the UTMF2020)
 From noon, Sunday, October 25, 2020 to 23:59, Saturday, October 31, 2020 (JST)
 Payment deadline: 23:59, Saturday, October 31, 2020
– General category registration (New racers to the UTMF2021)
 From noon, Monday, November 16, 2020 to 23:59, Monday, November 23, 2020 (JST)
 Racers are selected through lottery.
 Payment deadline: 23:59, Sunday, December 13, 2020 (JST)
 * There will be no secondary registration.
– Donation-based registration
 From noon, Monday, November 16, 2020 to 23:59, Monday, November 23, 2020 (JST)

(5) Registration fee
– Priority registration 
 36,000 JPY (also required: 5.5% of the registration fee as payment processing fee)
– General registration 
 36,000 JPY (also required: 5.5% of the registration fee as payment processing fee)
– Donation-based registration 
 100,000 JPY (64,000 JPY as donation and 36,000 as registration fee)
<Cautions>
– Please note that the donation is not tax deductible.
– No payment processing fee is required for the donation and the registration fee of the donation-based registration.
– No registration fee applies when donation-based racers in the UTMF2020 registers again for the UTMF2021 or the UTMF2022.

(6) Result notice for the general registration
From noon, Friday, December 4, 2020 (JST)

(7) Cancellations or any changes made after registering
– Please be aware that you cannot cancel your entry for whatever the reason once you’ve completed the payment procedure. There are no entry fee refunds (full or partial).
– Your registration will become invalid and canceled if we receive your payment after the payment deadline. In this case, your payment will be returned to you minus the designated administrative fee.
– The transfer of the right to participate in the race to another person is NOT allowed.

(8) Bib pickup and equipment check
Bib pickup and equipment check are available only on the day before the race. All racers must make a reservation for the bib pickup and equipment check.

  *Luggage drop-off must be completed at least one hour prior to the start time.

Sunday, April 25
 13:00 – 14:00  Awards Ceremony & Closing Ceremony at Fujikyu Highland

(10) Award eligibility
1. UTMF Men’s Overall: 1st – 10th place, Women’s Overall: 1st – 5th place
2. New Hero Award
(male and female racers age 29 years old or younger with outstanding performance)
3. Veterans Category (40-49 years old): Men’s: 1st – 3rd place Women’s: 1st – 3rd place
 *Overall award winners will be excluded from age group category awards.
4. Masters Category (50-59 years) Men’s: 1st- 3rd place Women’s: 1st – 3rd place
 *Overall award winners will be excluded from age group category awards.
5. Legend Award (60 years old or older) Men’s and Women’s: 1st -3rd place
 *Overall award winners will be excluded from age group category awards.

(11) Course and time table
– Distance: approximately 164 km
– Cumulative altitude gain: +7,563 m/-7,535 m
– Aid stations, etc.: Aid stations at 8 locations and water station at 1 location
 * Personal aid or support is not allowed at aid stations in the UTMF2021.
– Highland line: approximately 97 km point (drop-out point)
 * Racers who drop out from the race after the Highland line will receive ITRA point up to the Highland line.
– Drop bag: Two locations (A2 Fumoto and A6 Yamanakako)
* The contents are subject to change depending on the COVID-19 situations.

(12) Events, etc.
1) The UTMF EXPO
One of the largest trail-running exhibitions and shops in Japan where all the race sponsors and exhibitors gather
– Schedule and venue: Thursday, April 22, Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25 at Fujikyu Highland Finish Area
* No Expo will be held at the start area.
2) The UTMF Mt. Fuji Gururi Rally 2020-2021
An event to introduce tasty, delightful, and fun facilities in eleven municipalities located around Mt. Fuji (Fuji City, Fujinomiya City, Minobu Town, Narusawa Village, Fujikawaguchiko Town, Fujiyoshida City, Oshino Village, Yamanakako Village, Oyama Town, Gotemba City, and Susono City)
The UTMF original gifts will be given away based on the number of stickers participants gather by visiting registered facilities.
– Event period (sticker giveaway period): From Thursday, January 30, 2020 to noon, Sunday, April 25, 2021
– Gifts: Original UTMF tin badge (for 9 or more stickers)
     Original UTMF towel (for 15 or more stickers)
– Gift exchange: Submit your sticker ledger to the collection box during the race period or mail it to the event office at the address below. Gifts will be shipped later from the event office.
